Parent to Parent Support Program

We have coordinators both in Kitsap County and Jefferson County. This program matches a parent of a child with a developmental disablility with another parent of a child with similar disabilities to provide emotional support.

Sibshops is a vital component of our Parent to Parent Support Program. This group meets once a month on the third Saturday and targeted towards the brothers and sisters of children with special needs. We have two groups: Sibshops for Kids (ages 8 - 12) and Sibshops for Teens (13 - 18).

A new project, The Senior Family Caregiver project, is about meeting other senior parents and finding and sharing resources. We have monthly gatherings with the first hour devoted to a specific topic and guest presenter and the second hour devoted to meeting other parents and having questions answered by our presenters. Please call for more information.

The program serves individual adult clients, their families and careproviders. If one to one counseling is needed, it will be provided on a time-limited basis. Modes of service include direct family counseling, educational workshops, behavioral intervention techniques and regular consultation with professional and paraprofessionals working with the child and family. Referral to community resources is an integral part of the program.
